The Results

One week ago today I started a contest for the new Shared Ignorance blog tag line! After receiving several entries (and by several I mean three) I have come to a conclusion and will announce the winner!

The conclusion! Three people read my blog!

The winner.....no one!

The few tag lines entered into the contest were negative, and quite frankly in poor taste! In fact, not only do I declare NO winner, I also declare the 3 of you who entered losers! And utter failures!

This is an outrage!

So with the results comes another announcement! I am hereby suspending my blogging until further notice! I figure if I am blogging for no one to read, then I shall stop blogging and leave no one nothing else to read (that's right you three, I am now attaching onto your "loser" status the "no one" clause!)

This decision to cease blogging comes not only on the heals of my failed contest (though I still contend that my blog, tag lines, and contest were far more successful than Mr. Smoak House) but also on a recent discovery that I'd like to leave you with.

It's been fun! God Bless!

come on, man, don't give up.

When I posted the tagline thing for my blog only 3 people responded even though I know that more than that read mine.

Strange thing about blog readers, they don't often comment. I am sometimes surprised at the folks who comment on my blog. I'm always like "YOU read my blog?"

Blogging more often and commenting a lot on the blogs of others is a sure way to gain readers too.

Awww...c'mon Matt! I love reading your blog. I'm sure that more than just us 3 read your blog. It helps me stay in touch with my one and only brother. I would like to go on record that my tagline was not negative especially compared to the other 2. Oh well! I hope you'll blog a little big once in a while. Either that or we'll have to talk on a weekly basis on the phone. Which do you prefer?

Since I have demonstrated a clear knack for taglines (well, one anyway), I have a winner for you that will, as a bonus, solve your supposed problem of a small readership. You're gonna love this genius tagline: "Ignorance for your life." Eh? It's a take-off on the John Tesh-themed tagline you suggested for Josh, adapted slightly just for you.

Alternatively, you might choose my personal favorite from all of Josh's candidates (submitted, as it happens, by one Matt Evans): "Your best blog now!" That, my friend, was priceless.

And by the way, three points: 1) I enjoy your blog, although I read it in spurts (two or three posts at a time), 2) more people read blogs than comment on blogs by quite a hefty margin, and 3) the more you comment on others' blogs, the more visitors to your own. Don't give it up!
